The author Joseph Victor von Scheffel gave the Bergsee (‘Mountain Lake’) its name. The name ‘Schwarzsee’ or Black Lake, which had been used up until then, was given up. In his honour a rock formation was named Scheffelfelsen and this is where one can sense it: the wild romantic atmosphere of the surroundings. Even today you can still get a feel the mood of this place as it was hundreds of years ago and that inspired the writer.
And today one can also still observe how couples with prams or pensioners holding hands stroll along the river banks and then have a coffee at the inn along the way. Whether in a paddle boat on Lake Berg or on a bench along the banks, there is always something to see. The dogs running along the sandy beach and jumping into the water or the visitors watching the ducks. A place which the term ‘time off’ suits very well. A lovingly and sustainably cared for game enclosure can be found right next door. Deer and pigs like to present themselves to young and old visitors and snatch away corn from their hands.
If you combine your excursion destinations with Lake Berg and the game enclosure, you will have gained enough energy to pursue slightly louder activities again. Whoever is not ready yet, can simply remain here a while longer.
